Achi soup is a Nigerian soup that is frequently prepared with Oha leaf, Bitter leaf, ukazi leaf, sometimes with pumpkin leaf. You can prepare and serve achi soup with no time.

Yes you might think that Oha soup is only a restaurant kind of meal No! You too can cook it as well. Kindly follow our guide and you will definitely get a delicious taste of your choice. Please don’t forget to add Uziza leaf to this soup.

Achi Soup with Oha is one of my best soup. I can only eat achi soup once because, it taste so amazing on that first day.

Knowing how to prepare this delicious meal from my mum has actually made me champion in cooking achi soup.

Different ways to cook delicious Achi soup

  • Your ground Achi
  • Meat
  • Stockfish
  • Dried fish
  • Smoked fish
  • Ground crayfish
  • Fresh oha leaf
  • Fresh oil
  • Onion
  • Fresh pepper
  • Uziza leaf
  • Seasoning cubes and salt

Step by Step Procedures

  1. wash the meat properly, at least 3 times, rinse your cooking pot, add the washed meat there cover it and keep.
  2. Wash the stock with hot water, rinse with cold water then, add it to the pot as well.
  3. Put the smoked fish in a wash hand bowl, pour in water, wash and add to your cooking pot.
  4. Debone and Wash your dried fish with water, put inside a bowl, cover and set aside.
  1. Pick the Uziza leaf, wash it for at least 3-4 times, chop it and set aside.
  2. Peel onion back wash it and slice into tiny cubes then, set aside.
  3. Pick the Oha, cut it one after the other with your hand, cover and keep.

Cooking Directions

  1. Season your meat, fish, stockfish, dried fish together with fresh pepper, crayfish, seasoning cubes. Add little water then, allow to simmer for about 10minutes.
  2. Add half of the chopped onion and salt to taste. Continuecooking till done. Remove the smoked, put it inside a bowl cover and set aside. Add water to it again and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  • Put the ground achi in a soup bowl, pour in the palm oil then stir very well. Add small cold water, and little hot water as well, stir it very well then, pour it inside the pot, cover and continue cooking.

#Note  Stir the soup every 3 mins for at least 12mins.

  • 4. Add the chopped Uziza leaf, stir, cover and cook for about 3mins. Add the Oha leaf, stir and bring it down.
  • Oha soup is read. Serve this soup with any swallow of your choice and don’t forget to post it here.

3 things that causes achi soup to have lumps.

  • If the cook pour in the achi directly to the stock without turning it over and over again.
  • 2. Using only hot water while trying to desolve it in a soup bowl.
  • At times, is when the ground achi settled on top fish or stock. If the soup wasn’t turned Immediately. It can easily form lumps.
